Derek McInnes ist im Gespräch als neuer Trainer für Bristol City, aber ein offizielles Angebot hat es noch nicht gegeben... fände ich eigentlich auch nicht gut genug für ihn:

St Johnstone would not stand in the way of Derek McInnes becoming Bristol City manager after it emerged he is a leading contender for the vacancy.

Saints chairman Geoff Brown told BBC Scotland that McInnes would be allowed to speak to the Championship club as long as a compensation fee was agreed.

But he stressed that no official approach had been made by the Robins.

Derek McInnes has left St Johnstone to become manager at Bristol City on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The clubs have agreed a compensation deal for the 40-year-old Scotsman, who leaves the Perth outfit after four years in charge.

City, who are bottom of the table, have been without a manager since Keith Millen's exit earlier this month.

"Derek was the unanimous choice," chairman Colin Sexstone told the Bristol City website.

"He's an impressive character who is very highly rated in the game and comes here on the back of a superb stint at St Johnstone.

"He's a manager on the up with a real understanding of the game. Derek has the drive and energy that proved to us he was the right man to take the club forward, both in the short term and - even more importantly - in the medium-to-long term."

Cook in line for SPL post

SLIGO Rovers boss Paul Cook is in line to become the next manager of Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone, writes Daniel McDonnell.

It's understood that advanced talks about compensation have taken place between the League of Ireland side and the SPL outfit.

The Liverpudlian has up to two years left on his contract at Sligo so a deal would have to be agreed before he could take the position.

However, sources suggest that negotiations have progressed well and the path should be clear for the 44-year-old to move after Sunday week's Ford FAI Cup final against Shelbourne at the Aviva Stadium.

Gerüchte sagen etwas von 30k Abfindung, die die Saints an Sligo zahlen sollen. Irische Quellen berichten auch davon, also deutet alles daraufhin, dass der Wechsel extrem wahrscheinlich ist.

Mark McGhee interested in St Johnstone vacancy

Former Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacancy at St Johnstone.

The 54-year-old revealed his interest to BBC Scotland while in Musselburgh to make the draw for the third round of the Scottish Cup.

"St Johnstone are a fantastic club, who have been left a really good legacy by the outgoing manager," he said.

"I haven't managed to acquire a new job yet, so I am looking and I'm trying. I still feel I have something to offer."

St Johnstone had made Paul Cook their number one target, but talks broke down with the Sligo Rovers manager.
