What? I don't understand the complaint. Lee played once every 5 days and he's used to international traveling.

The complaint is, that he had to play in two meaningless matches, right after coming back from a Corona infection. The travel itself is already exhausting for the body, and playing 90 minutes twice inside of 5 days is more than one should do after an infection. It forced us to not play him as a starter in our actual meaningful match. So its quite upsetting for the officials.

Soviel dazu...

One was not that much meaningless cause South Korea wanted to beat Iran once and for all.

But i guess everyone looks at their interest and at the end of the day nothing happened.

But South Korea was already qualified before both games right? And whether 1st/2nd doesn't make a difference afaik. More or less petty reasons to "just" beat someone do not really qualify as relevant to me.

Nothing happened is quite relative, as we potentially could have gotten 3 points with a more available Lee. But that's of course a little hypothetical zwinker

It was important to them, Lee said himself that they wanted to win.

As for the match vs Gladbach, i think Mainz did enough to win even with Lee not starting.

Sadly Sommer said nein and hopefully Mainz won't regret the two points lost.

If the club has communicated this to the national team, then it’s disrespectful of the national team to completely disregard the club needs.

The club will not forget this. With Muto and Okazaki in Japan there was more collaboration.

We probably do not understand the Korean culture in this regard. Its a shame, you have great footballers but this is an absolute no go

Interesting. Why? Is there a special rivalry? And if so, and how did it come about?

(Please don't get me wrong: I do not want you to feel responsible to justify the behavior of the South Korean soccer federation. I'm interested in the cultural issue.)

Beacuse it's been a while since last time South Korea won vs Iran, so South Korea was seeking for reveange.

It's nothing more than sporting rivarly tho

After Iran's victory against South Korea in their final qualification match, Queiroz showed his anger at the South Korean national coach with a raised fist gesture, which was deemed offensive by the South Korean players and staff, almost causing a fight between the two teams.[78] As a result of the altercations, Sosha Makani was suspended for their opening match of the 2014 World Cup.[79] Queiroz had answered previously to Choi that Iran had fairly shared what they had with the South Korean national team on their visit to Iran.
