Harry Redknapp's mission to turn Queens Park Ranger from relegated club to Championship winners is taking on familiar pattern with the Mirror reporting Redknapp is keen to secure the services of Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe. Redknapp has worked with the England international on three previous occasions - linking up at West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham - and sees the 30-year-old as the perfect player the shoot the club back into the Premier League. However, Redknapp will not have it all his own way with Stoke City rumoured to be interested in the poaching skills of Defoe.

And finally, a twist in the Clint Dempsey transfer saga - according to the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old US international is wanted by Everton. However, as reported by ESPN, the current Tottenham man is strongly linked back to the MLS and to the Seattle Sounders. And that news is forcing Everton into inquiring about Verona midfielder Jorginho. But there are problems there as well, with the Italy under-21 international luring the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and AC Milan.

Sky Sports understands Tottenham have reignited their interest in Porto winger Christian Atsu.

Atsu's future at Porto has been the subject of intense speculation with the Ghana international refusing to sign a new deal at the Estadio do Dragao.

As a result of his contract wrangle, Atsu has found himself in exile at Porto and the Portuguese side are now thought to be ready to sell the 21-year-old rather than see him run down his contract and leave on a free transfer next summer.

Liverpool are thought to have had one offer for Atsu rejected earlier this summer, but now Tottenham are weighing up a move for the speedy wideman.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is a big fan of Atsu having given the player his debut while he was in charge of Porto.

Villas-Boas could be in the market for new wide players if Gareth Bale leaves this summer and Atsu is thought to figure highly on his wanted list.

Atsu, who is set to play for Ghana against Turkey this week, has always indicated he would like to play in the Premier League and Spurs have been encouraged to make a move for him, with Porto now resigned to selling him for a cut price fee.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Tottenham have made a concrete offer for the former River Plate star with a figure in the region of €35-40 million going to the Giallorossi and a contract on the table worth €4m a year for the player

Big news about Willian's proposed move to the Premier League: word from a very reliable source has just filtered through to Guardian Towers that the Brazilian midfielder will not - repeat not - be moving to Tottenham. Despite completing a medical at White Hart Lane, he is no longer interested in a move to Spurs. In so far as you can presume anything in this game, it would appear he's off to Chelsea instead.

"At the moment I can't tell you anything because players can have medicals and they can end up in different places," Villas-Boas said with a smile.
Villas-Boas did profess his admiration for Romania defender Chiriches, who will cost Spurs around £8.5million if the deal goes through.
"He is an interesting player that has been followed by lots of teams," Villas-Boas said.
"He has tremendous qualities coming out with ball and that's what we like in our defenders. He is a great leader."
Villas-Boas admitted that there are likely to be several outgoings before Monday night's 11pm deadline, although the Tottenham boss is optimistic of keeping Jermain Defoe after watching the striker score a brace in Thursday's win.
"Players will probably go out," Villas-Boas said.
"It can happen but at the moment we are just taking it day by day.
"You know how frantic it can be in the last few days."
Villas-Boas refused to be drawn on speculation that Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Emmanuel Adebayor, who have not featured for Spurs this season, will leave.
"Benoit has just returned to first-team training. He had a fever," Villas-Boas said, explaining the left-back's absence.
"Adebayor is regaining his form after he came back (from Togo)."

The Denmark international moved to Ajax in 2008 from Odense in his homeland and has since gone on to play a total of 161 games for the Eredivisie club scoring 33 times.
The attacking midfielder, capped 37 times by his country, enjoyed great success during his time in Amsterdam, winning three consecutive Dutch league championships between 2011 and 2013, as well as being named Dutch Football Talent of the Year and Ajax Talent of the Year in 2011. He was also voted Danish Football Player of the Year that same year.
